Maintain a Written Journal during Your Pregnancy

There is nothing like your first moments during your pregnancy.   Feelings and thoughts that will soon be forgotten can easily be remembered once written.  Having a journal for your baby will bring a lot of new firsts into your life. Moments from the first time you found out you are pregnant, to the first time you held your baby in your arms.  Not everything can be captured on a camera so writing about what you are feelings is a great idea.

Make it a habit of writing in your journal daily to capture your feelings, emotions and thoughts. Just write what you feel and don’t worry about format or what other people is going to think because these will be your memories.  Describe in your journal the feeling you get when moments like finding out you are pregnant for the first time, wearing your maternity clothes for the first time, the moment you felt your baby kick, When you realize the baby in the hospital bassinet is going home…with you or when you discover daddy and junior napping together, in identical sleeping positions.

Memory of theses moments will fade over time but written words will hold your emotions on paper for you remember.   If in the future you decide to make a scrapbook your journal with come in handy.

Finding your Maternity Style

Finding maternity clothing that will fit your changing body comfortably during your pregnancy can be very daunting but the good news is that you can start with what’s in your closet. This is a great place to find pieces to flaunt your belly such as your empire waist blouses or dresses, tunics and elastic waist skirts that can be worn in the beginning of your pregnancy. Purchase a belly band and you will be surprise how much longer you can wear your jeans after you start showing.

Stay away from trendy pieces if plan on wearing these clothes thought out multiple pregnancies.  Magic accessory is a belt that can turn a boring dress or shirt into a very stylish piece.  Chic, stylish and classic styles are your best option but having one trendy piece is okay. Your ultimate goal is to try and find pieces that will give you function, fashion and comfort.

How to Maintain Your Baby's Nails

Babies are often born with long nails that will need attention immediately.  This task can be a little daunting for new mothers but not trimming his or her nails will be the biggest mistake you can make.  Because a baby lack muscle control they often move their hands and feet without any coordination which can result in them scratching their delicate skin so to avoid this from happening keep nails short. Make sure to purchase a baby grooming kit which usually includes a scissor, nail clip and nail file because most babies will need to have their nails trim a least once a week.  Don’t use adult nail tools.  If you find that using a nail clipper is difficult then I suggest using an emery board for the first three months. If you chose to use a nail clipper follow the safety tips listed in this article and you should be fine.
Baby’s respond to your mood so make sure you are relax and calm before starting the process. Find the right time and a comfortable position in an area with good lighting to trim your baby’s nails.  If your baby is fussy then I suggest cutting it after a feeding or while they are asleep. Clipping a baby’s nail can be tricky so take babies hand in yours and check to see were the baby’s skin stops; this will prevent you from cutting too close which can be very painful. Nails should be cut short and edges rounded instead of jagged.  Use emery board to accomplish this.  NEVER bite your baby’s because of the risk of infection or spreading germs.

If your baby is fussy or fidgeting and you accidentally nick or cut, treat the wound quickly by applying pressure with a sterile pad until the bleeding stops.  If necessary treat with antibiotic ointment and bandage. Cover bandaged hand with a mitten until you remove the bandage so that your baby doesn’t accidentally choke on it.

Buying the Right Diaper Bag

A day out with your new baby can be very stressful so having the right diaper bag can be a life saver. When shopping for a diaper bag you don’t have to sacrifice your personal style in order to have functionality.   Forget about using your purse as a diaper bag because it will not provide the functionality and organization that a diaper bag provides.
A good diaper bag will have space for your baby and your personal needs. Most bags have separate pocket for your needs.  So pack your diaper bags with your baby needs and remember that when buying a diaper bag style, functionality and comfort.  Before you go shopping for a diaper bag have an idea of the type of bag you want because shopping for diaper bag can become overwhelming with the endless styles, colors, material and size.
