BABY’S FIRST POTRAIT

It’s time to schedule your first family portrait with your new baby and you are now officially stressing about how to make this happen smoothly.  Here are a few tips that will make your experience a little less stressful.  As a new parent, you're probably still trying to establish a routine with your baby. Keep this routine in mind when you are scheduling your appointment.

Choosing a photographer
Your budget will determine the photographer you choose. JC Penny, Sears and Kmart are available to mothers on a budget.  You will get nice photos but they will be very generic.  If you have a little more in your budget a professional photographer who makes house call, or has their own studio will give you a wider variety. A photographer who has experience with children will know how to manage a baby even a cranky one. No matter what your budget is, it’s best to ask questions about your photographer before scheduling your appointment.

Scheduling your appointment
Morning appointments are the best for babies because they are usually well rested and ready to face the day. Make sure you do not schedule your appointment around nap time because babies are usually cranky and just want to sleep.  Know your babies schedule.

Day of appointment

Relax and give yourself plenty of time to prepare.  Pack the essential items that you might need to comfort your baby if they get fussy such as a pacifier.  Your diaper bag should also be packed with extra baby clothes, diapers, wipes and extra food.

Remember to relax and don’t stress because babies can pick upon your moods. If your baby is sick or fussy it is probably best to reschedule your appointment.
